Dieting to Lose a Few Vanity Pounds

There are those among us who wish to lose a few pounds rather than 20 or more pounds. While many of us would be grateful if that were the case for us, most will find that the smaller the amount of weight needed to lose the more difficult it seems to remove. The good news is that those with little weight to lose generally do not face the painful issues with exercise and physical activity that plague those with far more weight to lose.
There are some great products on the market that will assist those with relatively little weight to lose enjoy the weight loss process without feeling deprived. The new market of 100-calorie snacks is an excellent tool for just this situation. You can get the treats you need to get you through the day without exactly packing on the pounds in the process. You can count calories to no end but if you have only a few pounds to reach your goal weight and aren’t delighted with your tight and tone new body, then perhaps it’s best to work on tightening and toning rather than more dieting.
The thing that far too many people forget along the way is that dieting can only get you so far when it comes to results. There will come a time when weight training and cardio exercises of some sort are the only thing that is going to get you to the body you so rightly desire. Dieting is good for dropping the pounds, but dieting alone is unlikely to bring you the body of your dreams. You should also keep in mind that exercising and ramping up your fitness routine is a great way to renew your dedication to the process and your enthusiasm. This is particularly true if you have found a fitness routine that is appealing to you.
The fitness routines of today are not the tired old aerobics workout of the 1980’s. You have many options ranging from kick boxing, Tae Bo, Yoga, Pilates, and even belly dancing for those that dare. The point is that you are not as limited as you may think when it comes to entertaining options for your workout routine. Find a workout that you can actually be excited about doing and do it. There is a lot of truth to the old Nike commercials that boldly proclaimed: “Just Do It”. Whatever it may be in your fitness routine, it will not do itself. You must be an active participant in your weight loss and fitness endeavors in order to achieve any results that will be favorable.
Whether your weight loss and dieting goals are to shed a few pounds or many pounds along the way it is quite likely that you will at some point reach a plateau in which you discover that you need to ramp up either your level of physical activity or calorie burning methods or you will need to ramp up your calorie cutting exercises. Either way, dealing with the setback is almost as important as your decision to lose those pounds in the first place. Get back in the game and renew your efforts. In no time you should have lost those few pounds that you were hoping to lose and established the body you were aiming to create.

There is alot of good music available. I've managed to find some good sites for Middle Eastern music. Some have audio clips of the music tracks, so you have some idea what the music on the CD's is like, and if it's what you're looking to find. You can check some of these links for CD's. You should find something good on one of these sites.

along with a great diet I'm on to lose 30 pounds by august, will belly dancing, I love dancing and thought it would be fun to learn how to do this, help you tone and lose weight and inches of the back and abdomen pudge I have?
oh for sure, the first time i ever took a belly dancing classes i was in so much pain because i never had used those muscle in my body.
chiropracters say its great for your back and posture, there was a guy in my class and he was a chiropracter and he raved about it and its great for you abs.
i would totally go that route if you want to lose weight.

what should i wear for my first belly dancing lesson?

I think learning belly dancing is gonna be so much fun!!
Do I have to show my belly thou? I don’t now what to wear. Shouldn’t I wear something that shows how my belly is moving so the instructor can correct me?

You want to wear something comfortable that doesn't restrict your movement. You can show your belly if you want, but you don't if you don't want to.
Usually I wear jazz or yoga pants with a tank top or crop top and a hip sash.
Your instructor may have sources where you can purchase costume items and accessories. There are many reputable vendors of costumes and accessories for belly dance.
Does anyone know of a good belly dancing workout DVD?

I want to start belly dancing to strengthen/tone my abs. I want a really good DVD that can show me the beginning steps as well as routines, something sexy for my hubby if possible.

If you just want something sexy for you hubby I would suggest Dolphina goddess-workout dvds.. Good for just beginning steps, but not to become a real belly dancer..

Belly dancing classes are another great way to have some fun and learn a new dance, all while burning calories. This is a great way to learn some new moves while toning your abdomen. You will start by learning the basics on how to move your hips and waist and then move on to some of the more complicated and exotic moves that make belly dancing so entertaining. A healthy diet, and brisk walking may help you achieve your goal even faster than just belly dancing alone.

There are many different types of workout videos to choose from, and you can exercise from the privacy of your own home. You can choose exercises such as boot camp, dancing, Pilates, and many more. Choose a workout plan that works for you and your schedule. The more fun you have the easier it will be to stick with the program and achieve your weight loss goal.

I'm just curious about this. Belly dancing is Middle Eastern in origin, but how does it fit in with conservative Islam, like with women covering their head and everything?
Is bellydancing a pre-Islamic art? Is it just practiced among more liberal Muslims? Or it is practiced by mostly Christians in the Middle East and not Muslims?
"Belly" dancing is an art form mistakenly thought by many in the west to be blatantly sexual. It is not, and it takes a great deal of strength and skill to perform correctly.
There is less sex involved than in what western girls are allowed to wear to school.

I am beginning belly dancing classes and do not know what to wear. Please help…
I am chubby and do not want to bare my tummy as I have stretch marks from having a new baby.
I usually wear yoga pants with t-shirt type tops or crop tops with a hip sash, and sometimes a full, light-weight skirt. I tend to wear longer tops during winter and shorter ones during summer. Other dancers in our troupe often wear leotards, yoga pants, leggings, or bike shorts with similar tops. Some like to wear skirts, while others don't usually wear them. It depends upon what we're doing during a class, and sometimes just one's mood. Most in our troupe wear hip sashes much of the time. I've occasionally used a shawl as a hip sash for a different look. You just want to make sure it's not too long and that you're able to tie it securely around your hips. Some fabrics may be slippery and don't always stayed tied very well. Footwear depends upon the surface. Dancing barefoot is good, as it keeps you grounded. I usually wear half sole sandals, or foot thongs. http://www.discountdance.com/ has some and there are other sources. I like the barefoot look with them while they protect my feet on hazardous surfaces and from broken glass beads.
Whatever you choose to wear make sure that you are able to move easily and comfortably in it. You may feel self-conscious now, before you go to the class. Once you have been taking classes awhile, you may find that you are more comfortable with your body and opt for different types of practice outfits. Most belly dancers that I know are not waif-like at all. Many are quite full-figured. The dance can help you learn more about your body and become much more comfortable with it. I hope you enjoy your class.
