Belly DANCING??!!?
I am good at controlling my hips and all but I don’t know what to do with my arms can you help!!??
Oh, yes!! Belly dancing is fun, and exciting, and great exercise, too!
There are movements to complement the steps and other movements in belly dancing. Find a full-length mirror to learn and practice–it’s what I did.
Slowly raise your arms above your head when you are moving your hips, curving the hands just so, turning them inwards. Keep the motion fluid. When turning, emphasize one hip by bringing one arm down and brushing that hip. It helps if you go to a belly dance class or watch a learn-to-belly dance video. Play with it, and have fun with it. Learn how to isolate different parts of your body, moving them differently from the rest of you, keeping an eye on the rhythm.
Keep it up. You are doing fine.

There are books and instruction videos that can help you. If not, try this excercise: flex your arm muscles so tightly that they start to shake. It will help you gain control but you start to cramp, for the love of God stop!

You can just stick to the simple movements such as snake arms. Look at this website from a professional belly dancer(Link below) to see what other moves you can do. You really just need to practice more with your arms to get the movements down.

Extend your arms out from your shoulders and let your hands do a kind of soft wave motion from your wrists. Or hold them over your head, hands close together and let your hands do a circular motion at the wrists..

Of course I had the same problem when I was a beggining bellydancer It is sort of complicated…they are called snake arms Its sort of like the wave but you must keep your elbows at a 90 degree angle. Just think of a snake. Another way is Raise both your hands above your head, with either the back of the hands together or the front of the hands together. Another way is put both of your arms out to the side and keep your hands up. The last two I mentioned are the easiest.
