Belly dance and Shakira go hand in hand not only due to her personal background, but because her music has a tribal beat. I think keeping your audience in mind is also important. Usually audiences expect to see belly dancers dancing to Arabic music and are a little disappointed if you're dancing to moden/hip hop/pop, etc... There are SO many cool/pop/upbeat songs in Arabic (I'd be happy to share some titles) but maybe you could try digging one up!
